While standard cone filters have a flat bottom, the bottom of the Hario filter comes to a point, which fits with the overall design of the brewer and extracts beautifully. The filters are completely flavorless. This filter allows for more of the natural oils to pass through without allowing the sediments through. The end cup is clean, full bodied and a great representation of the actual bean.
